Acrylonitrile as a basis for polyacrylamides
Specific forms of acrylamide polymers are fundamental to many areas of modern living, and can only be produced using acrylonitrile.
Use of acrylamides
In water treatment plants, they are used as flocculants to promote clumping of waste particles. In Enhanced Oil Recovery, they are used to increase the amount of crude extracted from oil fields. These applications are growing strongly, as demand for oil and clean water continues to rise.
Acrylamide polymers are also widely used in the production of paper, absorbent hygiene products, and in agricultural water management.
